Privilege Club redemption structure

QR uses two parallel charts:

Carrier-imposed surcharges (fuel surcharges): $0 on QR-operated metal. US-originating taxes/fees typically $30-80 one-way. Partner awards through QR generally pass through partner surcharges, but most oneworld partner awards (AA, JAL, Cathay, Iberia) on QR Avios have low surcharges.

US co-brand cards

Qatar Privilege Club offers two US cards through Cardless, a Visa Signature ($99 annual fee) and a Visa Infinite ($499 annual fee), open to eligible US applicants. Other paths to QR Avios for US-based readers are direct flexible-currency transfer (Amex / Citi / Capital One / Bilt) or via the Avios family (Chase or Marriott into BA, then Combine My Avios to QR).

• Qatar Qsuite, US to Doha. One of the best business class cabins in the sky (Skytrax named Qatar Airways World's Best Business Class in 2025). Qatar publishes no award chart, so the price depends on your dates, but when we checked its calculator in September, business class from New York and Dallas to Doha priced at 70,000 Avios one way. Check the calculator for your dates before you transfer.
• Free Doha stopover on connecting awards - explore Qatar's museums, the Pearl, desert excursions at no extra Avios cost. Pairs well with US -> Asia / Africa routings.
• Citi ThankYou -> Qatar Avios is the cleanest path for Citi points into the Avios family.
• Bangkok Airways awards on QR Avios - the only way to reach Koh Samui, Sukhothai, or Luang Prabang on Avios. Pair with a Bangkok Airways segment to round out a Southeast Asia trip.
• JetBlue awards via QR - JetBlue is in QR's partner network but not BA's. JetBlue mint at modest Avios cost is a real sweet spot.
• No fuel surcharges on QR-operated metal, though a distance and cabin based Reward fee applies. The low cash cost still stacks with the Qsuite product to make this a strong premium-cabin transatlantic redemption via Doha.

Qatar Airways operates the Al Mourjan Business Lounge (multiple locations at DOH), the Al Safwa First Class Lounge at DOH, and Privilege Club Lounges at select international gateways including JFK and select US airports.

Access rules:

• Same-day QR or oneworld flight + oneworld Sapphire (Gold) - Al Mourjan Business / oneworld Business class lounges worldwide for member + 1 guest, any cabin.
• Same-day QR or oneworld flight + oneworld Emerald (Platinum) - Al Safwa First / Star First lounges for member + 2 guests, any cabin.
• Same-day QR First Class boarding pass at DOH - Al Safwa First lounge access in any context.
• Same-day QR Business Class boarding pass - Al Mourjan Business lounge.
• Same-day Privilege Club Silver + same-day QR / oneworld flight - Al Mourjan Business lounge (member only).
• Premium Economy or Economy on QR - no lounge access without status.

QR does not generally sell day passes for Al Mourjan or Al Safwa to non-status passengers; access is by status or premium cabin only.

Al Safwa is one of the most acclaimed First class lounges in the world, with private suites and dedicated dining service.

• Qsuite Business class US-Doha. The headline use case; pricing varies by date, so check the award calculator. QR does not pass fuel surcharges on its own metal, but a distance and cabin based Reward fee applies on top of taxes, so check the cash cost at booking.
• AA short-haul redemptions in North America priced on the distance-banded partner chart - similar pricing to BA's short-haul awards but without BA's fuel-surcharge baggage.
• JetBlue, Bangkok Airways, LATAM, Virgin Australia, RwandAir, MEA - non-alliance partners exclusive to QR within the Avios family. JetBlue for US/Caribbean. Bangkok Airways is the only Avios path to Koh Samui (USM), Sukhothai, Luang Prabang. LATAM covers intra-South America. Virgin Australia covers domestic Australia.
• Award bookings 355-361 days in advance - one of the longest booking windows in the industry; useful for locking in Qsuite scarcity.
• Combine My Avios to / from BA, Iberia, Aer Lingus, and Finnair (instant, free, 1:1).

• How to change or cancel an award: Use "Manage my booking" on qatarairways.com to change an award flight, or to cancel an award flight or an upgrade. Award flights can be changed or cancelled, and upgrades cancelled, up to three hours before departure. If you change or cancel in time, eligible government and airport taxes are refunded and your Avios are credited back to your Privilege Club account. Changing or cancelling within three hours of departure, or after departure, counts as a no show. The Avios and cash you paid are forfeited and only airport and government taxes are refunded. Qatar Airways treats an award as used if you do not change or cancel within the applicable time limit. An award upgrade to Business or First Class cannot be changed. If you cancel it, the Avios come back after the applicable refund fee. If you do not show, both Avios and Qcredits are lost. Partner airline bookings cannot have a sector change. Some awards issued on a promotional basis may not be eligible for changes or cancellations. If you partly use an award, Avios are not refunded. Awards not used or cancelled within one year from the original date of issue expire with no refund.
• Fees: Award fees apply per passenger. More than 24 hours before departure the fee is USD 25. From 3 to 24 hours before departure it is USD 100. Gold and Platinum members pay no change or cancellation fee as the main member. Other passengers, including family members and guests, pay USD 25 or USD 100. Burgundy and Silver members pay the full fee. You can use Qcredits to pay award fees. The Qatar Airways Privilege Club Visa Signature and Visa Infinite cards refund the carrier imposed booking fee on Qatar Airways operated award flights as a statement credit, once the cardholder makes USD 15,000 of eligible purchases in the first 12 months, then USD 25,000 per 12 months. The booking fee must be paid with the card, the passenger must be ticketed on a reservation linked to the cardholder's Privilege Club account, and no credit is issued for reservations that are refunded, partly flown or not flown.
• If your flight is delayed or changed: If Qatar Airways reschedules, cancels or discontinues a flight it operates, it will use reasonable efforts to transport you on its next flight to your destination. For a flight operated by an airline partner, it will use reasonable efforts to transport you on its next flight or arrange the next partner flight to your destination. It cannot guarantee seat availability on future flights.
