Etihad Guest
Etihad Guest is the loyalty program of Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways, and it is at an inflection point in 2026. Amex Membership Rewards is ending its transfer relationship with Etihad on June 30, 2026 - flag this prominently in any planning, because Amex is currently the largest US bridge into the program. Etihad still has Capital One, Citi, Bilt, and Marriott on the bench, plus Rove Miles (a newer UAE-based transferable currency), but the post-June 2026 picture is meaningfully thinner for US travelers.
The program runs a unified 10-band partner distance chart - same pricing across all partners regardless of operating carrier - which is genuinely unusual and occasionally produces very strong values. Own-metal redemptions have been dynamic since 2023, removing some predictability. Etihad's premium cabins (Apartments, The Residence on A380, business class on the 787 and A350) are excellent products, and AUH's Premium First Apartment lounge is one of the best in the world. As of May 2026 Etihad Guest is a "use it well or skip it" currency: the rules reward research, and the cancellation policy is brutal.

Etihad operates the Premium First Apartment lounge at AUH (Zayed International) - one of the most highly rated airline lounges in the world - alongside business and arrivals lounges. - Cancellation policy - 25% miles forfeited on any cancellation, scaling up to 100% within 72 hours of departure. Brutal.
- Mile expiry: 18 months from last earn or redeem activity. Critical nuance: only qualifying flight activity resets the clock - transfers in and award purchases do NOT reset expiry. Buying miles cannot save an expiring balance.
