EVA Air Infinity MileageLands is the loyalty program of Taiwan-based EVA Air, a Star Alliance carrier with a widebody-heavy fleet (777-300ER, 787-9/10, A330) and a remarkable safety record: no major accidents since its founding in 1989, and eighth on AirlineRatings.com's list of the safest full service airlines for 2026. For US travelers the program's value is concentrated in Royal Laurel business class, one of the top-rated business cabins globally, and the rare comfort of a published, fixed region-based award chart in an industry that has mostly moved to dynamic pricing.

The catch is the transfer-partner picture. US Amex MR is not a partner (Singapore and Hong Kong Amex transfers exist but US Amex does NOT). Chase UR is not a partner. Capital One transfers at 4:3 (2 Capital One miles = 1.5 EVA miles). Citi ThankYou transfers at 1:1 from premium cards (1:0.7 non-premium) but is not instant, allow up to 14 days. Capital One and Citi ThankYou are the two direct US transferable currency paths. As of May 2026 EVA Infinity MileageLands is best treated as a destination-specific currency: build a balance only when you have a Royal Laurel redemption in mind.

The cheat sheet.

EVA Infinity MileageLands uses a published, fixed region-based award chart with separate charts for EVA-operated and Star Alliance partner awards. The partner chart is less competitive than Aeroplan or Turkish Miles & Smiles. Sample one-way pricing as of May 2026:

Route Cabin Miles (EVA chart)
Within Asia EVA Economy 15,000
Within Asia EVA Business 25,000 (round-trip ~50,000)
North America-Asia EVA Economy 37,500
North America-Asia EVA Business 75,000-80,000
North America-Asia EVA First (where flown) ~110,000
Star Alliance partner US-Europe Business 87,500-100,000

Standard rate is 5,000 IHG points for 1,000 miles and can take up to six weeks to arrive. Airline conversions are usually weak value, so keep IHG points for hotel nights unless topping off a specific balance.

Tips & quirks

Stopover rules, surcharges, the stuff nobody tells you until you've been burned once.

The fine print, decoded.

Spill the gotchas →
  • US Amex MR is NOT a partner - Singapore/HK Amex transfers exist but US Amex does not.
  • Chase UR is NOT a partner.
  • Capital One transfers at 4:3 (2 Capital One miles = 1.5 EVA miles).
  • Citi ThankYou transfers at 1:1 from premium cards (1:0.7 non-premium): not instant, allow up to 14 days.
  • Bilt is NOT a partner. Wells Fargo is NOT a partner.
  • Hilton Honors 10:1 exists (poor ratio, but available).
  • Published, fixed region-based award chart - rare in 2026.
  • Up to 2 free stopovers on round-trip Star Alliance itineraries.
  • Royal Laurel business class - one of the top-rated business cabins globally.
  • Ordinary Star Alliance awards book online; stopover awards need EVA customer service.
  • Award Miles expire 36 months from when earned (per batch, no activity reset). The tier card is valid 2 years.
  • Family Plan pooling available.
  • No US-issued co-brand.
  • Buy Miles caps at 50% of an award - purchased Infinity MileageLands miles can cover only up to half of any award ticket, so you can never buy your way to a full redemption. Buy-miles promos (periodic bonuses on 36,000+ miles) are non-refundable; transferring from Capital One or Citi is usually the better path.
  • Joined Star Alliance 2013.
  • No major accidents since its 1989 founding.

Frequently asked questions

  • Which US credit card points transfer to EVA Air Infinity MileageLands? Two: Capital One transfers at 4:3 (2 Capital One miles = 1.5 EVA miles), and Citi ThankYou transfers at 1:1 from premium Citi cards and 1:0.7 from non-premium, though Citi transfers are not instant and can take up to 14 days. US Amex, Chase, Bilt, and Wells Fargo are not partners. Hilton Honors also converts at 10:1.
  • Do EVA Air miles expire? Yes. Award Miles expire 36 months from when they are earned (per batch), with no activity-based reset in the US, so plan to use each batch within three years.
  • What alliance is EVA Air in? EVA Air has been a Star Alliance member since June 2013, so Infinity MileageLands books awards across Star Alliance carriers on a published, fixed region-based chart. Ordinary partner awards can be booked online; stopover awards are handled by EVA customer service.
  • What is EVA Air's best redemption? Royal Laurel business class, one of the top-rated business cabins. Standouts: Royal Laurel within Asia from 50,000 miles round-trip, and North America to Asia in EVA business from 75,000 to 80,000 miles one-way.
  • Can I get a stopover on an EVA Air award? Yes. A round-trip Star Alliance partner award allows up to 2 stopovers (one each direction); an EVA or UNI Air own-metal round-trip allows 1. Stopover awards are booked by phone.
  • Can I buy EVA Air miles to complete an award? Only partway. Purchased miles can cover at most 50% of any award, so you can never buy a full ticket. Transferring from Capital One or Citi is usually the better way to close a gap.
