Copa ConnectMiles
Copa ConnectMiles is the loyalty program of Copa Airlines, the Star Alliance airline that links the US and Canada with Central America, the Caribbean and South America through its hub in Panama City.
Copa tells you what an award costs before you start searching. Its own flights price from a published chart: a set number of miles one way, based on where you start and where you're headed, with a lower Saver price and a higher Standard one. Flights on Star Alliance and other partner airlines use a second chart with a different map, which is where most of the confusion comes from.
Where you live matters more than usual. Eight southern states, including Florida and Texas, get the lowest prices on Copa flights. New York shares a region with the rest of the continental US, and California pays extra in business.

ConnectMiles prices awards from two published charts: one for flights Copa operates, and one for Star Alliance and other partner flights. They use different region maps, so find your route on the right chart before you plan anything.
Copa flights
Miles per one way flight, shown as Saver / Standard, for tickets issued on or after October 20, 2025. Saver seats are capacity controlled. You can mix Saver and Standard on one ticket. Taxes and fees are extra.

Miles one way. A round trip costs double. Partner awards book at the Saver level only, except United, which also offers Standard. Availability is limited and capacity controlled, a price on the chart doesn't mean a partner flies that route today, and some partner awards have to be booked through the ConnectMiles Service Center. Taxes and fees are extra.

- Colombia is a region of its own.
- Northern South America is Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela.
- Mexico and Cuba share a region, and it leaves out Cancun and Tulum.
- Caribbean includes Cancun and Tulum.
- Central America is Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.
- Panama covers Panama and David.

- Florida or Texas to Colombia, Ecuador or Peru for 15,000 miles in economy. That's the Saver price one way from all of North America 1 (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, the Carolinas and Texas), the same as a ticket to Panama. From New York or anywhere else in North America 2 it's 20,000. The catch is that Saver seats are capacity controlled, and Standard costs twice as much.
- Business to Bogota, Quito or Lima from 35,000 miles one way. That's Saver from North America 1, 40,000 from New York and the rest of North America 2, and 50,000 from California. The catch: business seats vary by aircraft, so check what you're actually flying before you spend business miles on it.
- Buenos Aires, Rio, Sao Paulo and Montevideo cost no more than the rest of southern South America in economy. Saver is 25,000 from North America 1 and 35,000 from North America 2. Business is where they pull away: those four airports are their own region at 70,000 Saver from North America 1, against 55,000 for places like Santiago.
- Europe on Star Alliance partners from 30,000 miles one way in economy. That's Copa's partner chart price from the US, Alaska or Canada, with business at 70,000 and first at 110,000. The catch: partner awards are Saver only (United also offers Standard), availability is limited, and taxes and fees are extra.
- Partner flights inside South America from 10,000 miles one way. Economy is 10,000 within Colombia, within northern South America or between the two, 12,500 within southern South America, and 20,000 from the north to the south. The catch: the partner chart draws its map differently (Colombia is a region all its own), so use the partner regions, not Copa's.

Copa operates the Copa Club at PTY. Gold and above get Copa Club access plus Star Alliance Gold reciprocal lounges globally on same-day Star international flights. Silver does not get standard lounge access. There is no published public day-pass program.

- Start with where you're flying from. Copa flights price by your departure region. The eight states in North America 1 pay the least, New York sits in North America 2 with the rest of the continental US, Alaska and Canada, and California gets its own pricier region in business.
- Look for Saver first. It's the lower price and it's capacity controlled. Copa lets you mix Saver and Standard on one ticket.
- Book round trip if you want to see two places. Round trip awards allow one stopover and two open jaws (flying into one city and home from another). One way awards don't.
- Check the partner chart before you count on a partner flight. Prices there are one way, a round trip is double, and a route on the chart isn't a promise that a partner flies it. If the website won't book it, some partner awards go through the ConnectMiles Service Center.
- Budget for fees unless you have Gold. Base members pay a $30 booking service fee on international awards, $75 to book within 7 days of departure, $75 to change more than 7 days out, and $100 to cancel more than 7 days out or $150 within 7 days. Gold members and above pay none of these. Taxes are extra for everyone.

- Two charts, two maps. Copa flights and partner flights use different region lists. Colombia is part of Northern South America on Copa flights but a region of its own on partner flights.
- California pays more in business. It sits in North America 2 for economy but gets its own region, North America Dreams, for business: 50,000 Saver to Panama, against 40,000 from New York.
- Cancun and Tulum price as the Caribbean, not Mexico, on both charts. On Copa flights from North America 1, Saver economy to the Caribbean is 15,000, while the rest of Mexico is 17,500.
- Cuba moves around. On Copa flights it's a region of its own, Caribbean 2, at 30,000 Saver economy from North America 1. On the partner chart it shares a region with Mexico.
- Hawaii is its own region on both charts.
- No blackout dates on Copa flights, but Saver seats are capacity controlled, so no blackouts doesn't mean every seat is available at the Saver price.
- Marriott Bonvoy points convert to ConnectMiles at 3 to 1, and Marriott adds 5,000 bonus miles for every 60,000 points you move.
- None of the big US bank programs transfer in. Amex, Chase, Capital One, Citi, Bilt and Wells Fargo don't transfer to ConnectMiles. Among US points currencies, Marriott Bonvoy and Rove are the ways in.
- Miles expire 24 months after your last earning or redeeming activity, including with partners, so any qualifying activity resets the clock.
- Business class depends on the plane. Copa's standard business class is a recliner, but Dreams, on some 737 MAX 9 flights including two New York (JFK) flights, is a lie flat seat, so check the aircraft before you book.
- Miles Sharing is free for families. One adult can pool miles with up to four children, but you can't pool with other adults.
- Starlink Wi-Fi is free for Gold members and above, business class passengers and Starlink subscribers; everyone else pays, and it's still being installed across the fleet through early 2027.
- No US co-brand card. ConnectMiles credit cards come from partner banks in Panama and nine other Latin American countries.

- How many miles does a Copa award flight from the US to Panama cost?
