Southwest Flights Are Now Bookable Through August 2, 2027

Book Southwest with points on a Choice fare, cancel, and your points go back to the Rapid Rewards account that booked it. Summer 2027 is bookable now, with the schedule open through August 2, 2027.

Southwest does not charge fees to change a flight (a fare difference may apply, and on a points booking any increase is paid in points) and has no cancel fees on any fare type. That covers Choice, Choice Preferred and Choice Extra. Cancel at least 10 minutes before departure, or points and funds may be forfeited.

Basic fares are the exception. You can't change one unless you upgrade first. Cancel it and you get a flight credit valid 6 months from booking, not points back. On a round trip with any Basic segment, cancel both segments or upgrade first.

Companion Pass holders have an extra reason to look. Your companion flies free of airline charges, with taxes and fees from $5.60 one way, whenever you buy or redeem points. Earning the pass takes 100 qualifying one way flights or 135,000 qualifying points in a calendar year.
