• The welcome is up to 100,000 miles: 90,000 after $5,000 in the first 3 months, which also earns 2,000 Premier qualifying points (PQP) toward status, plus another 10,000 for adding an employee card in those first 3 months (see below). That $5,000 works out to roughly $1,667/month, a real ask, so if your business spend is seasonal or lean, map out that first quarter before you apply. The refreshed card now earns 8x miles on United flights, too.
• The $125 United Travel Credit is NOT passive - it only triggers after you make 5 separate United flight purchases of $100 or more each calendar year, so if you book one big trip and call it a year, this one may sit unclaimed on the table.
• The partner credits stack impressively on paper ($100 hotels, $100 rideshare, $120 Instacart, $100 JSX, $50 Avis/Budget, $25 FareLock) - but each one requires booking through a specific channel, and you're only getting full value if your actual spending habits already map to these partners, not if you're willing to contort your life to chase them.
• NO Economy Plus seat upgrades until you've spent $25,000 in a calendar year - that's a real spend threshold, not a background perk, so if your annual card volume doesn't get there, file this one under "aspirational" and focus on the benefits that don't require hitting a secondary bar.
• The 5,000-mile Better Together anniversary bonus only lands if you hold BOTH this card and a personal United credit card simultaneously - it's a nice loyalty reward for people already in the United ecosystem, and a non-event for everyone else.
• The free first checked bag covers the primary cardmember and ONE traveling companion - not the whole group, so if you're flying with more than one companion, the savings math narrows quickly and Group 5 Boarding this is not.
• The 10,000 bonus miles for adding an employee card require doing it within the first 3 months of account opening - if you've been meaning to add one eventually, "eventually" has a deadline (the 2,000 PQP is separate - it comes from hitting $5,000 in spend).
• The travel perks are real but conditional: Priority Boarding, 2 United Club one-time passes a year (over $100 value), and a $125 United travel credit that only triggers after 5 United purchases of $100 or more.
• **Expanded award access + cardmember award discount (sweet spot):** signed in to MileagePlus, cardmembers see extra United-operated Saver award seats that general members do not (Economy, Business, and Polaris business class), and get a discounted miles price on them (at least 10% off, and 15% for Premier members). This is one of the most underrated reasons to hold a United card. It applies to United-operated flights only, not partner awards booked through United, so it will not help an Aeroplan or other partner redemption.

The United Business Card is a solid mid-tier co-brand for road warriors who live on United - 8x miles on United flights, free first bags, 2 United Club passes, and a staggering $600+ in annual partner credits from hotels, rideshare, Instacart, and JSX. At $150/year, it's practically paying for itself before you even get to the 100K-mile welcome offer.
