World of Hyatt Elites Get a Shortcut to Aeroplan Status

Hold World of Hyatt Explorist or Globalist status and have Air Canada flying coming up? Aeroplan will put you on a 90 day challenge for its own status instead of making you earn it across a calendar year.

Hit the Status Qualifying Credit (SQC) target for your Hyatt level and Aeroplan status follows:

• Explorist: 8,000 SQC for Aeroplan 25K
• Globalist: 8,000 SQC for 25K, 12,000 for 35K, 17,000 for 50K, 25,000 for 75K

Register through your World of Hyatt login with both accounts linked. Processing can take up to 48 hours and the 90 days start when it goes through. The Hyatt level you hold at registration is the one that counts.

SQC come from Air Canada, Air Canada Express and Rouge flights in Economy Standard or higher, Star Alliance and select partner flights ticketed by Air Canada, and Air Canada Vacations packages. Economy Basic, flights booked with Aeroplan points (Points+Cash included), credit card SQC and anything that is not a flight earn nothing toward the challenge. Flights must depart inside the 90 days.

You get one challenge per calendar year, and you are not eligible if you already hold Aeroplan status, earned outside the challenge, at or above the top tier your Hyatt level can reach (25K for Explorists, 75K for Globalists) and valid through next year. If you earn Aeroplan status on your own that matches or beats the top status your challenge offers, the challenge ends and you keep what you earned. Earn a lower status on your own and you stay in. Miss the target and your status stays as it was.

Status earned this way lasts until January 31 of the second calendar year after you register, so a challenge registered in 2026 earns status that runs through January 31, 2028. No end date is posted for the challenge itself.
