American added SIXT as a standing rental car earning partner on July 13, 2026. AAdvantage members can now earn 2 miles per dollar on qualifying SIXT rentals worldwide.
The earning rate applies to the time and mileage portion of the rental. Taxes and fees do not earn miles, so the final amount charged will usually be higher than the amount used to calculate the mileage earned.
To earn miles, book through SIXT.com or the SIXT app and enter your AAdvantage number in the reservation. You do not book through aa.com, and SIXT is not listed on American's rental car earning page.
The rate is a flat 2 miles per dollar for all AAdvantage members. There are no higher rates for members with American status or an eligible credit card.
That makes the calculation simple, but it may not produce the most miles for everyone. Members with qualifying AAdvantage status may earn at higher rates with Avis or Budget, so compare the available earnings before choosing a rental company.
Separately, AAdvantage members can redeem miles for rental cars through AAdvantage Cars. That redemption option is not part of the SIXT earning partnership.
