IHG One Rewards Lets Group Stays on a Master Bill Earn Points

IHG updated its One Rewards member terms on October 30, 2026, and Section 33 changes things for anyone traveling in a group. Rooms paid on a master bill did not earn before. Now they can, at select hotels.

A group stay earns Elite Qualifying Nights two ways: you pay the hotel for your own room at the group rate, or you stay as part of a group booking settled on a master bill and meet the conditions. The booking has to come through the IHG websites, the IHG One Rewards app, the WeChat mini program, IHG Customer Care, or directly from an IHG hotel. It needs a Qualifying Rate of at least $30 USD per night ($10 USD in Greater China). And your member number has to be on the reservation before check-out.

Points are a fixed amount per eligible night, set by brand, and post up to two weeks after check-out:

• 1,500: Regent, InterContinental, Kimpton, Vignette, Hotel Indigo
• 1,000: Noted Collection, voco, Even, Crowne Plaza, Ruby
• 500: Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn, Garner, avid, Atwell Suites, Hualuxe
• 250: Staybridge Suites, Candlewood Suites

Some brands pay less in Greater China, InterContinental at 1,000 a night for one. Anything billed to the group's master bill earns nothing extra, while charges you pay yourself earn standard points. Elite Bonus Points and registered promotion rewards still apply, but partner rewards such as airline miles do not apply to master bill stays.

It is rolling out in phases at select hotels, so confirm with the hotel when you book. Six Senses, Iberostar and IHG Army hotels are excluded.
