ITA Airways
ITA Airways is Italy's flag carrier and a Star Alliance member since April 2026. Its old Volare program closed on March 30, 2026, and ITA now uses Miles & More, the Lufthansa Group frequent flyer program. You earn miles on ITA flights and spend them on ITA flights through Miles & More, so that is the page for award rules, status and partners. Status on ITA follows the Miles & More levels: Frequent Traveller, Senator and HON Circle. Accor points no longer convert into ITA, because that conversion paid out in Volare points.

No standout redemption. ITA Airways closed its Volare program on March 30, 2026 and now uses Lufthansa Group's Miles & More, so ITA flight redemptions belong on the Miles & More page.

- Joined Star Alliance April 1, 2026 as the alliance's 26th member, after exiting SkyTeam on April 30, 2025. ITA is owned by Lufthansa Group.
- Volare closed March 30, 2026. ITA no longer runs its own frequent flyer program; you earn and redeem miles on Miles & More, the Lufthansa Group program. Volare balances did not automatically transfer to Miles & More.
- Status follows the Miles & More ladder: Frequent Traveller (Star Alliance Silver), Senator (Star Alliance Gold), and HON Circle (Star Alliance Gold), above the entry level Miles & More membership.
- Accor points no longer convert to ITA, because that conversion paid out in Volare points, which no longer exist.
- Aeroplan points also book ITA flights (since February 5, 2026), on aircanada.com, in the Air Canada app or through the Aeroplan Contact Centre, and Aeroplan lists earning on most ITA flights for travel from April 1, 2026, in eligible booking classes. See the Aeroplan page.

Loyalty programs change rules, fees, transfer ratios, and award pricing all the time — sometimes without warning. We do our best to keep these pages current, but the program's own site is always the final word. Always confirm specifics directly with ITA Airways before transferring miles or booking an award. Treat anything on this page as a starting point, not a guarantee. Crazy4Points is not responsible for actions taken based on information here — see our Terms of Service for full details.
