Qantas Experiences
Qantas turns Frequent Flyer points into more than just flights through Points Exclusives - a rotating shop of money-can't-buy experiences, VIP packages, and collectibles you redeem with points. There are two flavors here: fixed-price experiences you book outright, and periodic Points Auctions where members bid their points against each other for one-of-a-kind prizes. If you are sitting on a big Qantas balance, this is how you spend it on something memorable instead of a saver economy seat.
What you can redeem for
Qantas Points Exclusives and Points Auctions have featured a rotating mix:
- Money-can't-buy experiences (chef dinners in the Qantas First lounge, scenic flights, behind-the-scenes aviation access like a Dreamliner simulator)
- Sports and concert VIP packages (premium seats, pregame access, meet-and-greets)
- Luxury travel bundles (business-class tickets paired with five-star hotel stays)
- Aviation collectibles and memorabilia (retired A380 SkyBed seats, bar carts, crockery)
- Lifestyle and tech items via the broader Qantas Marketplace Inventory rotates constantly - the auction drops new lots on a schedule, and Exclusives refresh periodically.
How it works
Two mechanics run side by side:
- Points Exclusives (fixed price): experiences and packages listed at a set points cost. You redeem points to book outright - first come, first served while stock lasts.
- Points Auctions (bidding): Qantas loads exclusive lots and members bid their points against each other over a set window. Highest bid wins, and winning bids are binding - you are committing your points, so do not bid more than you are willing to part with. Some Marketplace items also support Points Plus Pay, letting you split the cost between points and a card.
Who's eligible & how to access
Open to all Qantas Frequent Flyer members - no specific co-brand card or elite tier required. You just need an active membership and enough points in your account. Access Points Exclusives and the Points Auction through the Qantas Marketplace / Frequent Flyer site when you are logged in. Note this is an Australia-centric program, so the richest inventory and event access skews toward Australia.
Standout examples
Qantas runs two formats: fixed-price Points Exclusives on the Qantas Marketplace, and periodic Points Auctions where you bid points. Past money-cannot-buy lots show the range - a five-course Neil Perry dinner with wines in the Sydney First Class lounge (for you and a group), plus genuine collectibles like retired A380 cabin seats (business suites and premium economy) packaged with a full Qantas bar cart, crockery and cutlery. Specific listings rotate, so check the Marketplace for what is live now.
Good to know
Auction bids are binding - if you win, those points are committed, so bid deliberately. Inventory is heavily Australia-focused (experiences, events, and travel often depart or take place there), which is the main catch for US-based members. Refundability and cancellation terms vary by experience and are spelled out in each listing's terms - read them before you commit. Find current inventory by logging into the Qantas Frequent Flyer / Marketplace site and browsing Points Exclusives or the active Points Auction; the auction runs as periodic timed events rather than always-on.
Our take
Worth knowing if you hold a large Qantas balance and want access to genuine money-can't-buy moments - chef dinners, aviation experiences, VIP event packages - rather than letting points idle. The auction format also gives savvy members a shot at one-of-a-kind prizes that simply are not for sale any other way.
