Air Canada Aeroplan Experiences
Aeroplan "Experiences" isn't one tidy storefront - it's two real things wearing the same hat. One: you can spend Aeroplan points on activities, tours and travel experiences through the Aeroplan eStore and Air Canada Vacations. Two: if you carry the right Amex Aeroplan card, you get cardholder access to Front Of The Line presales and curated members-only events. Points-first flexibility on one side, VIP access on the other.
What you can redeem for
Two distinct lanes:
Redeem points for experiences
- Activities and travel experiences, tours, and excursions (concerts, museums, nature/sightseeing) through Air Canada Vacations
- Cruises and vacation packages bundled with flights and hotels
- Merchandise and retailer gift cards via the Aeroplan eStore
Cardholder event access (Amex Aeroplan cards)
- Front Of The Line Amex Presale and Reserved Tickets to in-demand concerts, theatre, festivals and select racing events - often before the general public
- Curated members-only events: unique dining experiences, virtual parties, special online shopping moments
How it works
It depends which lane you're in:
- Points redemptions are priced in Aeroplan points (or points + cash). You book experiences, tours and packages through Air Canada Vacations, or grab activities, merch and gift cards on the Aeroplan eStore. Standard fixed redemption - no bidding.
- Cardholder access is a presale mechanic, not a points spend. Front Of The Line gives Amex cardmembers a window to buy presale or reserved tickets before (or after) general release, paid in full on your Amex card. Curated cardmember events are invitation/access based.
Who's eligible & how to access
- Points redemptions are open to any Aeroplan member - just sign in at the Aeroplan eStore or Air Canada Vacations.
- Front Of The Line presales require an eligible American Express card; the richest access sits with the American Express Aeroplan Reserve Card, which also unlocks the curated Cardmember Exclusive Events. Subscribe to the Front Of The Line entertainment e-updates to get listings emailed to you.
- Note: the Amex Aeroplan cards and Front Of The Line are Canadian products - this access is geared to Canada-based cardholders.
Standout examples
Inventory rotates constantly, but the real categories are consistent. On the points side: tours, sightseeing and activity packages through Air Canada Vacations, plus cruises and flight-and-hotel bundles. On the Amex access side: Front Of The Line presales to in-demand concerts, theatre runs, music festivals and select racing events, plus curated cardmember moments - past examples have included a Valentine's dining package and an exclusive virtual art experience. Specific live listings change, so check the eStore and your Amex Experiences feed for what's bookable right now.
Good to know
- Front Of The Line presales and curated cardmember events are tied to eligible Amex cards (best on the Aeroplan Reserve) and are a Canadian benefit.
- Presale tickets are paid in full on your Amex card - this is ticket access, not a points discount. Quantities are limited and hot events sell out fast.
- Experience/tour redemptions run through Air Canada Vacations and the eStore; refundability and change rules follow the individual operator's and Air Canada Vacations' terms - read them before you book.
- Find points inventory at the Aeroplan eStore and vacations.aircanada.com; find event access via Amex Experiences and the Front Of The Line e-updates.
Our take
Worth knowing on both fronts: the points lane gives you flexible ways to burn Aeroplan points beyond flights, and the Amex Reserve lane is genuine VIP access - presale shots at concerts and events the general public can't touch yet. Just know which one you're using, because only one of them actually spends points.
