Already using Airbnb to fill out a trip: a cooking class, a guided hike, a local cleaning service before checkout? SkyMiles just made that worth something. Experiences and Services earn 3 miles per $1, meaningfully higher than the 1 mile per $1 on Airbnb Homes.
The mechanics are easy to get wrong, so pay attention. Your Airbnb and Delta SkyMiles accounts must be connected, and you must start your session by clicking through from a Delta-hosted placement: Delta.com, the Fly Delta app, a Delta email, or deltaairbnb.com. From that click, you have a 10-day window to complete your booking. Miss it, and you click through again to start fresh. You can confirm you're inside the window by checking for estimated miles on the Airbnb checkout page. Your accounts also need to stay connected through trip completion; disconnect early and the miles disappear. A few Services categories are excluded (third-party bookings like grocery delivery and airport pickups), and miles post up to 6-8 weeks after your trip wraps.
The 1 mile per $1 on Homes was always a thin return. At 3x on Experiences and Services, it's a genuinely better deal, especially if you're already spending on local activities. Connect your accounts before your next trip.
