Delta Adds Up to a 50% Bonus When You Buy SkyMiles Through October 31

Delta is adding up to 50% bonus miles when you buy SkyMiles through October 31, 2026, and purchases made since September 1 already qualify.

The bonus climbs with the purchase: 25% on 2,000 to 10,000 miles, 30% on 12,000 to 20,000, 35% on 22,000 to 30,000, 40% on 32,000 to 40,000, 45% on 42,000 to 50,000, and 50% on 52,000 to 60,000.

• $0.035 a mile, plus the 7.5% US federal excise tax. The full 60,000 is $2,100 before tax and lands 90,000 miles with the bonus.
• 2,000 to 60,000 miles per purchase in 2,000 mile steps, and 60,000 bought per calendar year for your own account. Bonus miles don't count toward that cap.
• Your account has to be open at least 10 days with at least one automatically posted mile.
• Final and non refundable. Bought and bonus miles don't count toward Medallion or Million Miler status.

The bonus lands in the same balance, so buy for the gap after the bonus, not the gap itself. If an award leaves you 60,000 short, buying 42,000 puts 60,900 in your account.

If you carry a Delta Gold, Platinum or Reserve Amex, price the award while logged in before you buy. Those Card Members get at least 15% off the miles on Award Travel on Delta flights booked at delta.com or in the Fly Delta app, which can shrink the gap before you spend a dollar. It doesn't apply to flights operated by partners like Air France or Virgin Atlantic.

Buying on spec is where this goes wrong. Award prices on Delta move with the flight and the date, so miles bought today come with no promise of what they'll book next spring. If you've found the seat and priced it, this is a clean way to close the gap. If there's no trip yet, let this one go.
